After a student has taken our online courses, Lessons in Meditation, Art and Science of Raja Yoga, and Course on Discipleship, or their equivalent (the print version or classes at an Ananda Center), they are eligible to take this fourth step on the Path of Kriya Yoga. Preparation for Kriya Yoga

Paramhansa Yogananda

“The practice of Kriya Yoga helps a student develop pranayama, or ‘control of the life force.’ According to Yogananda, pranayama is a condition, not just a technique. Development of pranayama is essential for reaching God-realization. Among yoga techniques, Kriya is the most effective because it is the most central and direct in that way that it works with controlling the live force.” — Nayaswami Devarshi

This course offers in-depth exploration on deepening your understanding and practice of the central techniques on the Path of Kriya Yoga. It will help you tune more deeply into the Guru-Disciple relationship as it relates to the path of Kriya. You will learn the AUM technique of meditation and additional practices that will help prepare you for your initiation into the Kriya technique. It will not only expand your understanding of the Path of Kriya Yoga, but will help integrate all your previous training into a comprehensive daily practice.
This course offers several methods for student engagment. Each lesson contains downloadable reading assignments, digital videos of Swami Kriyananda, and audio learning tracks from various speakers including Swami Kriyananda, Nayaswami Jyotish, and Tyagi Ram. There will be occasional live classes presented by the instructor and special guest speakers. All of the live classes are recorded for students unable to attend live. Each lesson ends with a quiz which allows for further interaction with the course instructor.

The recommended pace of this course is one lesson per week. You will have 16 weeks to complete the five lessons in this course. You will receive an email reminder seven days before your enrollment period expires. We offer enrollment extensions freely, so if you find you need more time to complete the course, you can let us know at admin@onlinewithananda.org.
